Overview

Health Research BC and Island Health partner to support research that advances health equity, strengthens community-based care, and improves health outcomes across Vancouver Island and surrounding communities. Together, we support projects that address barriers to care, improve experiences for equity-deserving populations, and foster inclusive, patient-oriented approaches to health research and service delivery.

Island Health provides health and care services across Vancouver Island and surrounding communities, on the unceded and traditional territories of the Coast Salish, Kwakwa̱ka̱ʼwakw, and Nuu-chah-nulth Peoples. Island Health recognizes that care has not always been safe or fair for everyone and is committed to improving cultural safety, equity, and inclusion across the health system.

Through ongoing learning, listening, and action, Island Health is working to create more respectful and culturally safe care experiences for all communities.
