Sabine Lague

Sabine Laguë (BSc (Honours), PhD, MD, FRCPC) is a UBC Pediatric Respirology Fellow at BC Children’s Hospital and Postdoctoral Fellow in Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension through the UBC Clinical Investigator Program with postdoctoral research co-supervised by Dr. Angela Bates (University of Alberta) and Dr. Eric Austin (Vanderbilt University). Dr. Laguë is interested in the interplay between the cardiovascular and respiratory systems and addressing clinical and research knowledge gaps arising for pediatric conditions falling outside of the overt care of either subspecialty. Her postdoctoral research uses exercise and active living as a means of improving heart and lung health and quality of life for children and adolescents with pulmonary hypertension. Dr. Laguë is a past Killam Laureate and Vanier Scholar who completed a UBC PhD in Comparative Cardiorespiratory Physiology characterizing the heart and lung function of high-altitude birds. Her subsequent MD and pediatrics residency were completed at UBC with research in pediatric pulmonary vascular disease, heart transplant, and pulmonary sequelae of congenital heart disease. She actively publishes and peer reviews in pediatric respirology, pulmonary vascular disease, and comparative physiology. Dr. Laguë is also a passionate medical educator, with multiple undertakings in medical education, curriculum development, and simulation education.
