Tasha Wainstein

Dr. Tasha Wainstein is a Canadian certified genetic counsellor, applied health researcher, and postdoctoral fellow in the School of Nursing at The University of British Columbia. Her PhD focused on understanding the lived experiences, psychological adaptation, and identity development of adolescents with genetic conditions as a way of using this information to adapt genetic counselling processes for adolescent populations. Her current work will focus on characterizing the role of a genetic counsellor in a care coordination setting for children with medical complexity and their families. Tasha is also involved in graduate student supervision (especially of genetic counselling trainees), teaching and mentorship, is the current co-chair of the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors Research Committee, and Deputy Editor of The Journal of Genetic Counselling.
