Shyh-Dar Li

Dr. Shyh-Dar Li is the Tong Louie Chair Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of British Columbia (UBC), where he leads a multidisciplinary research program in drug delivery and nanomedicine. He received his BSc in Pharmacy from National Taiwan University and PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, followed by postdoctoral training at the University of California, San Diego. He began his independent academic career in 2009 at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research before joining UBC in 2014.

His research focuses on developing innovative lipid- and polymer-based nanoparticles, prodrug technologies, and needle-free delivery systems to enable therapeutic applications of peptides, proteins, antibodies, and nucleic acids. His research has been supported by CIHR, NSERC, Health Research BC, and other agencies. He has generated numerous peer-reviewed publications and multiple licensed drug-delivery technologies, demonstrating a strong commitment to translating innovative drug-delivery platforms toward clinical and commercial applications. His research will contribute to validating a therapeutic target that can modify the progression of Parkinson’s Disease.
