Sara Heidarpanah

Sara Heidarpanah, Ph.D., is a microbiologist with over 10 years of experience in molecular biology, bacteriology, and vaccine development. Her research focuses on host–pathogen interactions, antimicrobial resistance, and the development of novel therapeutics. During her Ph.D. at the University of Montreal, she identified and characterized surface-exposed proteins of Clostridium perfringens as vaccine candidates against avian necrotic enteritis, resulting in multiple peer-reviewed publications and a patent application. She has expertise in cloning, protein expression and purification, ELISA, and microbiome analysis. Currently, as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of British Columbia, she evaluates silver-based antimicrobial formulations against multidrug-resistant pathogens, including Candida auris, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and MRSA, using biofilm and in vitro infection models. She is committed to translating research into solutions to combat infectious diseases.
