Naomi Maldonado-Rodriguez

Naomi Maldonado-Rodriguez is an incoming postdoctoral research fellow in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University, working under the mentorship of Dr. Angela Kaida. Her research explores the intersectional impacts of public health surveillance on racialized and migrant women living with HIV. Using feminist qualitative and arts-based approaches, she will examine how public health surveillance and other intersecting forms of surveillance (e.g., migration, social assistance) impact women’s experiences of healthcare engagement. More broadly, Naomi is committed to using community-based and participatory research approaches to examine the ways in which policies and practices (re)produce stigma and intersectional marginalization with the aim of identifying sites for future upstream interventions and, ultimately, improve health equity among racialized and migrant women living with HIV.
