My work seeks to promote and integrated, equitable, culturally adaptive and trauma informed mental health care pathways for people with forced migration backgrounds, (i.e. immigrants and refugees) newcomers in high income countries. I use a variety of research methods and frameworks including Realist Evaluation, Implementation Science, Critical Social Theory- Intersectionality, Arts- based methods and Community Engaged Participatory Action Research to inform this work. Health care services are affected by the influx of newcomer communities that require an equitable and integrated care approach to meet the complex health and service user needs. I applying realist evaluation and equity implementation science to better understand how services work, for whom do they work well and in what context do they work. Importantly, work force sustainability across health and social care sectors are shaped by macro level structures and policies which impact not only human resource challenges but overall health outcomes of people with forced migration backgrounds.
