I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of British Columbia in Dr. Michael Berger’s laboratory at the International Collaboration on Repair Discoveries (ICORD). I completed my Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics and Master of Science in Human Health and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Guelph before pursuing PhD in Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan.
My current research focus is on understanding the neuromuscular mechanisms that influence recovery following nerve transfer surgery for individuals with cervical spinal cord injury (SCI). While nerve transfer surgery is becoming an increasingly promising approach to restoring upper-limb function and reversing paralysis in SCI, recovery varies between individuals, and the underlying neuromuscular factors remain poorly understood. Using techniques including indwelling needle electromyography, motor unit decomposition, electrical stimulation, dynamometry, and magnetic resonance imaging, I aim to investigate how changes within the central and peripheral nervous systems contribute to motor recovery following surgery.
