Mary Olukotun

Mary Olukotun (she/her) is registered nurse and an incoming postdoctoral fellow in the SLeep solUtions to proMote Better Early childhood Relationships (SLUMBER) research lab, where she will be working with Dr. Elizabeth Keys. For her postdoctoral research, she will be undertaking a community-led mixed-methods study to understand childhood sleep conceptualizations and experiences among Black families in Canada. This project builds on her doctoral thesis examining the experiences of Black families with preterm infants and her broader body of work on the health and wellbeing of Black children in Canada. In addition to interests in perinatal health, infant and child health, immigrant health, and the wellbeing of Black communities, Mary is especially interested in how the coalescing impacts of various systems and structures shape access, health, and wellbeing. Her doctoral research was supported by the Women and Children’s Health Research Institute, Alberta Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research Support Unit, Empowering Next-Generation Researchers in Perinatal and Child Health, and Canadian Institute of Health Research.
