Jonathan Dorogin

Dr. Jonathan Dorogin is a biomedical engineer whose research focuses on designing and modulating protein interactions for therapeutic applications in cancer, autoimmune disease, and musculoskeletal repair. In 2025, he joined the laboratories of Dr. Anna Blakney and Dr. Jay Kizhakkedathu as a postdoctoral research fellow, where he is developing and improving delivery strategies for mRNA and self-amplifying RNA (saRNA) therapeutics. He received his PhD from the University of Oregon, where he engineered affinity-enhanced biomaterials to control the delivery and bioactivity of cytokines and morphogenic proteins, improving healing outcomes in complex bone fractures. His doctoral work combined biomaterials engineering, protein design, and regenerative medicine to address challenges in tissue repair. This foundation in engineering biologically active materials now informs his work on next-generation nucleic acid delivery systems and advanced therapeutics. Through his research, he aims to develop innovative platforms that precisely control biological processes to improve human health across a range of diseases.
