Janice Sorensen

Dr. Janice Sorensen is leader clinical research in long-term care and assisted living at Fraser Health. She provides leadership in capacity-building, collaboration, support and execution of research grounded in integrated knowledge translation across the sector in the region. Working regionally alongside physician services and clinical operations in long-term care and assisted living, she develops new partnerships for patient-oriented, outcomes-based applied research initiatives. For example, she formed Fraser Health’s Long-Term Care and Assisted Living Research Partners Group comprised of about a dozen residents, family care partners, volunteers and staff with the aim to inform research priorities and to partner on research and knowledge mobilization in long-term care and assisted living. This group has played a key role partnering on a project entitled: ‘Co-creating Fraser Health’s partner-centred LTCAL research priorities’, resulting in a novel ongoing process for research priority setting. Dr. Sorensen is a registered dietitian and completed an MSc PhD Clinical Nutrition at the University of Copenhagen conducting research on nutrition care and food in healthcare.
