Hugh Kim

Hugh Kim is a dentist (DMD, Université de Montréal) and clinician-scientist (Ph.D., University of Toronto; postdoc, Harvard) with fundamental research interests in the cell biology of platelets in inflammatory and thrombotic disorders. Hugh is a Professor in the Department of Oral Biological and Medical Sciences in the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of British Columbia (UBC), with cross-appointments to the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Division of Hematology in the Faculty of Medicine. His laboratory has been continuously funded by CIHR (Clinician-Scientist Award; Operating/Project Grants) and Michael Smith Health Research BC (Scholar Award). As of January 1, 2025, Hugh was appointed as Director of the UBC Centre for Blood Research, a multi-Faculty, multidisciplinary institute with investigators based on the main UBC campus and UBC-affiliated hospital institutes.
