Dr Clare Ardern is an Australian-trained physiotherapist and health researcher, appointed as Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at The University of British Columbia. With expertise in musculoskeletal health, digital health, and meta-research, Dr. Ardern’s work focuses on (i) measuring the impact of health research on public policy, the economy and society, (ii) producing high-calibre meta-research to help clinicians make quality decisions, and (iii) co-designing musculoskeletal health services with patients and clinicians. She leads two programmes of research: (1) the VaMPIRE team, whose work focuses on improving equity in how research is assessed and funded, and (2) the DigiMSK team, whose work brings researchers, patients, clinicians, designers and policy-makers together to re-imagine musculoskeletal health care services.
