Amirhossein Bahreyni

My research aims to understand how inflammation drives cardiovascular disease and to translate these discoveries into more precise diagnostics and targeted therapies. As a postdoctoral fellow at the Centre for Heart Lung Innovation at St. Paul’s Hospital, I focus on viral myocarditis, a leading cause of heart failure and sudden cardiac death in children and young adults. My work investigates how virus-induced extracellular vesicles contribute to cardiac injury and immune dysregulation, with the goal of developing innovative nanomedicine-based strategies to prevent and treat this disease.
My interdisciplinary training spans nanomedicine, extracellular vesicle biology, biosensors, virotherapy, immunology, and artificial intelligence, enabling me to tackle complex biomedical challenges from multiple perspectives. By integrating these fields, I strive to develop non-invasive, precision approaches that improve the prediction, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular disease. My research has been recognized through several competitive national, provincial, and institutional awards, reflecting my commitment to advancing innovative science with meaningful clinical impact.
