Dr. Sharif Faleel is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of British Columbia. His research designs and studies wearable and mixed-reality technologies – especially smartglasses – to improve how people access and act on information during everyday, hands-busy activities. He completed his PhD under Prof. Pourang Irani at UBC, where he developed a novel interaction technique for head-mounted displays that remains usable when users’ hands and attention are occupied. Before his PhD, he worked as a research engineer, building deep learning models for consumer applications. Drawing on his expertise in user-centred design, wearable sensing, and applied machine learning, he now focuses on translating lab prototypes into deployment-ready solutions that streamline the workflows of field workers, including clinicians and other health practitioners.
