Overview

Health Research BC and the Centre for Chronic Disease Prevention and Management (CCDPM) partner to fund researchers whose work contributes to preventing and managing chronic conditions in British Columbia. Based at UBC Okanagan, CCDPM focuses on key areas such as diabetes and obesity, cardiovascular health, and neurological disorders, emphasizing prevention and self-management strategies. Through this collaboration, we've supported projects like Dr. Christine Voss’s study on physical activity and chronic disease management in children living in rural and remote communities in BC’s Interior. The CCDPM is a national leader for research excellence, knowledge translation and exchange in the urgent research field of chronic diseases. The UBC Faculty of Medicine Research Centre serves as the research arm of the Southern Medical Program which educates and trains medical students within the Central Okanagan and across the Interior Health region. The Centre continues to expand its research infrastructure to deliver innovations that directly impact local and global populations.
