Health Research BC and Surrey Hospitals Foundation partner to fund researchers whose work contributes to advancing health care innovation in British Columbia’s Fraser Health region. Together, we've supported initiatives like the COVID-19 Research Capacity Building Partnership, which enhanced research capabilities at Surrey Memorial Hospital during the pandemic. Surrey Hospitals Foundation is Surrey’s official health care foundation serving south of the Fraser. As a champion of excellent and equitable health care for the community, the Foundation has contributed more than $210 million since its establishment in 1992. Every dollar donated has created impact. This past year the Foundation raised over $10 million, towards critical programs and equipment needs, including $1.5 million towards a $5.5 million goal to establish a regional robotics program at Surrey Memorial Hospital (SMH) for complex head, neck and chest surgeries, and disbursed $5.2 million to SMH and Jim Pattison Outpatient and Surgical Centre in support of capital projects, equipment and other programs. Other funded projects this year include $800,000 for completion of the Children’s Health Centre, $1.7 million for Integrated Operating Room System video technology and equipment, and $1.5 million for a CT Scanner.
