This Health Research BC and VCHRI co-funded initiative introduces Insight and Exchange Roundtables—structured, half-day team discussions held every three months to enhance teamwork, knowledge sharing, and client support through case-based learning. These sessions will be supported by written learning guides and staff feedback surveys to strengthen ongoing learning and engagement.
Our rural Mental Health and Substance Use team serves two municipalities and five First Nations (Lil’wat, N’Quatqua, Samahquam, Skatin, and Xa’xtsa) communities across the Sea-to-Sky region. We are a multidisciplinary team representing over seven professions and working from three separate offices. While our diverse expertise and broad geographic reach are key strengths, the distance between team members and limited opportunities for co-location present ongoing challenges to collaboration and communication. This can contribute to staff feeling isolated and impact the consistency and quality of care provided to clients. Through these roundtable sessions, we aim to foster stronger team connections, shared learning, and more coordinated client care across our region.
