Objectives of the project:
– Test the current conversational AI companion prototype in a long-term care home in in Vancouver and gather user feedback to inform software product enhancement.
– Apply a data security framework and principles for responsible AI for the application to ensure user privacy and compliance with regulations.
– Investigate the feasibility of adopting the software application with Smart TV devices, enhancing accessibility and user experience.

Skills/Competencies the intern is expected to develop through the internship:
– Data analysis and visualization: Proficiency in handling and interpreting complex datasets.
– Critical thinking and stakeholder communication: Effectively engaging with diverse groups to gather insights and feedback.
– Programming languages and AI technology: Gaining expertise in languages relevant to AI development and understanding conversational AI models, including LLMs.

The project and internship will support the company to:
– Identify product improvements that will be carried through development to commercialization, enhancing the software’s value proposition.
– Establish industry partnerships in Canada to better understand and address sector-specific needs through technology augmentation.
– Implement a robust data security framework, ensuring the application meets high standards of data protection.
