Enabling a strong clinical trials environment in BC

British Columbia is home to more than 100 clinical research sites and an expansive network of more than 600 clinical investigators.

We play a key role in enhancing BC’s global competitiveness in clinical trials. We invest in talent and partner on system-change initiatives to strengthen the clinical trials ecosystem.

We also enable the work of Clinical Trials British Columbia to coordinate a unified, province-wide approach to advancing clinical trials.

Through these actions, we increase clinical trials activity and investments across BC.

We partner with various entities including the Clinical Trials Training Platforms to support the next generation of clinical researchers.

Building capacity

In 2025, we partnered with Providence Health Care to open BC’s only Phase 1 clinical trial unit dedicated to non-cancer treatments.

At the request of the provincial government, we are facilitating development of BC’s first long-term clinical trials strategy.

System scanning

We commissioned a situational analysis of BC’s clinical trials ecosystem. The report evaluates the current state of the province’s clinical trials ecosystem, compares it with other provinces, and assesses BC’s overall competitiveness in clinical trials.
