Joerg Bohlmann

Dr. Jörg Bohlmann is a Professor and Distinguished University Scholar in the UBC Michael Smith Laboratories. He received his PhD from the Technical University Braunschweig, Germany, was a postdoctoral fellow at Washington State University and group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology.  He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), E.W.R. Steacie Memorial Fellow of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) of Canada, Feodor Lynen Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, and Fellow of the German Scholarship Foundation.  He is member of the International Scientific Advisory Panel of the Global Institute for Food Security (GIFS).  His research includes with plant-based bioproducts with applications in human health and food security.  He has published over 260 peer-reviewed publications (Google Scholar h-factor: 106; citations: > 42,000) and holds several patents.  His research is funded by NSERC, Genome BC, GlycoNet, BC Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research and other sources.  He has been Project Leader of several large-scale Genome Canada projects.
