Amy Tran

Amy Tran is a pharmacist at Island Health. Through her volunteer work supporting individuals affected by Parkinson disease (PD), Amy obtained a thorough understanding of the challenges encountered pertaining to medication management in PD. She currently supports the Parkinson’s community on a local level through her role with Parkinson Wellness Projects in Victoria, as well as on a provincial level through her collaborations with Parkinson Society British Columbia. Combined with her role as a community-based pharmacist prior to joining Island Health, she gained experience providing tailored medication guidance to individuals with PD and collaborating with health professionals to optimize drug therapy. Collectively, these experiences inspired her to connect with health professionals with an interest in PD to come together and collaborate on initiatives that focus on creating resources and supports for the Parkinson’s community. The team has developed analog tools for medication management, a video series covering medications and PD-specific exercises, an online shared decision-making tool, and supervised, student-led medication support groups. In 2022, Amy was a recipient of the Innovation Fund grant from the Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy.
